Police Chief

The police chief is given authority to enforce city laws and ordinances within the city limits. This authority is generally granted by the city charter. The Chief of Police may also be required to serve as sergeant-at-arms during city council meetings. Recruitment and hiring of a new police chief can be by the mayor or by the city manager.
