Election procedures are determined by the city charter and code. The office of the Secretary of State produces a manual to guide cities through the election process. There are a variety of ballot measures that a city can put forward: property tax bonds and levies, city charter amendments, annexation measures, gas tax measures, urban renewal measures, and elected positions. In preparing ballot measures, work closely with the city attorney.
