City Elected Officials Overview
This section of the Topics A-Z addresses concerns related to city elected officials. In order for a city government to provide services and promote the health, safety, morals, and general welfare of residents, the city must have elected officials to represent the public. Oregon has laws that guide councils in their mission to serve their constituents in an efficient and ethical manner. Most cities have a mayor and city council that are elected. Other cities have other elected positions as outlined by their charter. These elected officials create policy for the city and appoint officials that will administrate the day-to-day activities of the city.
