Registration Open for OCCMA Summer Conference

The 2024 Oregon City/County Management Association (OCCMA) Summer Conference is scheduled for June 24-27 at the Best Western Plus Hood River Inn.  Please note: attendees  will need to book their  hotel room by Friday, May 24 to secure the group lodging rate at the Best Western. Staff has also secured a room block at the Hampton Inn, which is valid until Monday, June 10. The theme of the conference is “Leading Your Internal Team,” and the planning committee has developed an outstanding program aimed at developing city and county manager’s leadership skills. In addition, four local tours are being offered to attendees to learn more about the cities and projects happening in the Columbia River Gorge.

New Programming - Building Strong Managers

This year, the OCCMA is introducing new programming on the last day of the conference, Thursday, June 27. The day’s program will be dedicated to developing strong managers in local government, and is included with the full conference registration. Those who are interested can also sign up to attend just this portion of the conference for $100. City and county staff interested in bolstering their knowledge of what it takes to be a local government manager in Oregon are encouraged to attend. Thursday’s programming will include information on: building effective relationships with a governing board; traversing Oregon’s unique land use system; navigating Oregon’s budget and procurement rules; strategies for managing social media; and building your professional network. It’s sure to be a day you don’t want to miss!
