House Judiciary Hears Recreational Immunity Bill
Legislation making permanent recreational immunity protections passed in 2024 received a hearing in the House Committee on Judiciary this week.
SB 179A makes the temporary protections permanent. The bill is likely to receive a work session in the coming weeks. Passage of recreational immunity protections is a top priority of the League this session.
After an adverse court ruling in 2023 that exposed cities and other trail owners to increased liability, the Legislature passed a temporary restoration of recreational immunity during the 2024 short session.
