Application Assistance Available for Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grants

The federal Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (EECBG) program is now accepting applications, granting about $1.2 million of federal funding to eligible local governments for energy efficiency, renewable energy, or transportation-related projects. The Oregon Department of Energy (ODOE) will run the state’s application process and provide funding for projects on a rolling basis. Eligible applicants include Oregon public bodies that did not previously receive a direct EECBG allocation from the U.S. Department of Energy (USDOE).

For qualifying communities, grants will range from $50,000-$100,000. All Oregon communities that did not receive a direct allocation are eligible to apply for funding. The program is open until the funding has been expended. More information is available on the ODOE's website.

The city of Woodburn is the first Oregon awardee of this pocket of funding. They are using their portion to support electric vehicle charging in the city, including four EV charging stations. More information is available in the ODOE press release.

Need Help Applying? The Northwest Environmental Justice Center is ready to support communities in completing their applications at no cost. More information can be found at nwejc.org/request-assistance.
