Beaverton Police Department is seeking a skilled administrative professional to provide complex administrative support to the department’s Professional Standards Unit. The Professional Standards Unit is responsible for investigating complaints that are received from members of the public concerning the performance, demeanor, and behavior of police personnel. The unit also conducts internal investigations concerning violations of department policy and criminal law and maintains confidential personnel files of our employees. The unit is also responsible for the recruitment, testing, and hiring of new sworn personnel as well as facilitating internal specialty assignment and promotional processes within the department.

The Professional Standards Support Specialist will respond to correspondence, prepare official documents and reports, maintain records, and coordinate and special projects. They will also work closely with recruiting and hiring processes, to assist with scheduling and tracking. Due to the nature of the Unit’s work, this position will work frequently with complex, confidential, and highly sensitive information.

This is a full-time, non-exempt, Beaverton Police Association-classified position. The classification is Police Support Specialist 3. There is one vacancy.

Minimum qualifications:

High school diploma or GED and
Four years’ administrative support experience; or
An equivalent combination of education and experience enabling the incumbent to perform the essential functions of the position.

Licensing and special requirements:

Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) fingerprints must be completed and cleared prior to the start date.
Ability to pass reference checks and education verification and satisfy the requirements of a background check.
Ability to satisfy the requirements of a pre-employment drug screen.
